Tata
Steel has bagged a Rs 14 crore order from the Indian
Space Research Organisation (Isro) for supplying hi-tech
equipment to the country’s main rocket launching facility.
The equipment being supplied by includes two launching
pads and cryo-arms, which hold a rocket in place till
it lifts off.
The
order came after the Metallurgical and Engineering Consultancy
(Mecon) recommended Tata Steel to Isro, which needs
the equipment for its Sriharikota Space Centre, 100
km north of Chennai. Engineers and designers at Tata
Steel’s Adityapur-based Growth Shop, a hi-tech engineering
and fabricating unit, have developed the equipment that
suit Isro’s requirements three-member Isro team, visiting
Tisco facilities in Jamshedpur, has inspected launching
pads.
