Wakhlu appointed resident director, Tata Services

Bharat Wakhlu, president of Tata
Inc, has been appointed resident director, Tata Services,
succeeding MA Pathan who recently retired from this
position.
As president of Tata Inc, Wakhlu transformed the sixty-two
year company, into a value-creating, profitable enterprise
that offered steel solutions to Tata Steels key
North American customers. He improved the visibility
of the Tata brand in North America, reaching out to
businesses, policy makers, members of the media and
academia. As a result, there was a heightened awareness,
and appreciation, of the Tata Groups commitment
to ethics in business, and to corporate citizenship.
Wakhlu joined the Group through TAS in 1985. He joined
Tata Steel in 1986 and served the company in a variety
of functions, notably, as the head of total quality,
divisional manager of technical training, senior divisional
manager corporate relations, the head of e-commerce
and the chief of Tata Steels extensive supply
chain. He has been instrumental in the creation and
deployment of the precursor to the Groups JRD
QV model.
His appointment as resident director will be effective
from January 1, 2008.
