(AD) Shroff Memorial Lecture in Mumbai
Mumbai, October 10, 2007
To be presented by R Gopalakrishnan
(executive director, Tata Sons) on Friday, October 12,
2007 at the Bombay House Auditorium
Forum of Free Enterprise, in memory of its founder-president,
has organised the 41st AD Shroff Lecture. R Gopalakrishnan
will deliver the lecture on "Prosperity beyond
our cities by spreading enterprise," which will
be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Bombay House
at 6:15pm in the evening. The lecture is a tribute to
AD Shroff for his relentless contribution to the economic
philosophy and vision for Indian Enterprise in today's
context.
AD Shroff is one of the few industrialists who played
an important role in encouraging public opinion on various
issues related to the Indian enterprise. He promoted
the Forum of Free Enterprise in 1956 to educate public
opinion on implications and measures of various policies
and project the great contribution private enterprise
could make to speedy development of the economy. He
believed in planning but not to the extent that it would
stifle individual initiative and enterprise.
The lecture to be addressed by R Gopalakrishnan would
also share significant insights into significance of
enterprise in India today. It would also focus on how
one needs to liberate India by empowering the people
and promoting more local governance.
