Ratan Tata
conferred Qimpro Platinum Standard - Business Award 2006
February 02, 2007 Group Chairman Ratan
Tata was awarded the Qimpro Platinum Standard - Business Award 2006 at a function
recently. The awards are India's premier recognition for quality in healthcare,
education and business at an individual level. An eminent panel comprising business
leaders and professionals selects the winners of the Qimpro awards after rigorous
application of the most exacting standards.
In his acceptance speech on
receiving the award, Mr Tata spoke about the exciting times and changes that the
country is witnessing and said, "I can think of only one person today who
has greatly influenced me and that is JRD Tata. Today it is right for me to say
that I am respectfully accepting this award thinking of Jeh who is the real father
of quality and who has influenced us all."
In his welcome speech
on the occasion, Suresh Lulla, principal trustee, Qimpro, congratulated Mr Tata
and the teams of Tata Sons and Tata Steel for the magnificent Corus achievement.
"In fact Tata Steel was Qimpro Consultant's first client in India to adopt
the Juran on Quality Improvement methodology way back in 1989. It was a turning
point for Qimpro. My special thanks to Dr JJ Irani for embracing quality and transforming
the destiny of not only Tata Steel but also that of Qimpro," he said.
The
Qimpro Foundation conceptualised the Qimpro Awards in 1990, inspired by advice
given by quality guru, Dr JM Juran. Each year, the Qimpro Awards attract entries
from committed quality leaders in the top 500 companies as well as healthcare
and educational institutions. The Awards have honoured individual quality achievements
that have met, surpassed and raised global expectations. In turn, the stalwarts
receiving these awards have raised the bar year after year, making these awards
truly inspirational.
Qimpro Awards are recognised by the American Society
of Quality and the Institute of Quality Assurance, UK, as India's foremost citations.
