Group participates in CII Fair in Beijing,
China
October 29, 2003
The Tata Group participated in the ‘Made in India’
show in Beijing, China, from October16 -19, 2003. It was
oraganised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and
the Embassy of
India in China.
The exhibition had the
support of the ministry of commerce, PRC and the department of
industrial policy and promotion, Government of India. The exhibition was inaugurated on October 16, 2003 by
the Indian commerce and industry minister, Arun Jaitly, as the international
business gateway of the Tata Group, Tata International, co-ordinated
the participation of the Tata Group companies. Besides Tata International, the other Tata
companies that participated in the Tata stall were Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata
Power, Voltas, Tata Infotech, TAL Manufacturing Solutions, Tata
Ceramics, TAYO, Tata Refractories, Tata Tinplate and Taj Hotels.
Representatives from most of the participating companies were present. The Tata stall was a 210square metre octagon advantageously
placed in the centre of the octagonal Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall.
While
enquiries for steel and minerals were prolific,
and the Taj team made inroads into generating
interest in their properties as a tourist destination.
By and large, the enquiries for the other Tata
products and services were largely exploratory
and mainly served the purpose of building brand
awareness about the Group. The Tata team also
participated in the seminars on steel, auto-components
and tourism that took place in Shanghai and Beijing
as part of the CII organised India Week.
