Sebi director to join Tata Group The

regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India's oldest employee is joining
the Tatas. The Tata group has appointed Sebi director Pratip Kar as dean - finance
and corporate governance of Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC) with immediate
effect. The Pune-based Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC) is the hub of knowledge
and training excellence of the Tata Group. Kar, who was with the Sebi since its
inception in 1992, has been involved in the reforms in the securities market in
India, framing its regulatory framework and regulatory policy. He
was also instrumental in the implementation of regulations in key areas like primary
issues, disclosure norms, accounting standards, corporate governance, takeovers
and substantial acquisition of shares, foreign institutional investment and others.
The Tata Management Training Centre (TMTC) was started on January 6, 1966 to serve
as an educational institution which would assist, foster, cultivate and contribute
to the development of professional management for the economic development of
the country. Kar, who has been in the financial
sector for close three decades, began his career as a lecturer in physics and
had a brief stint in a commercial bank, before joining the Industrial Finance
Corporation of India in 1977. Post IFCI, he moved on to the IDBI in 1981 to work
in the field of project finance. |
