Ratan Tata to get state award

Chairman of Tata Group, Padmabhushan Ratan Tata, has been nominated for the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan for 2005-06 by the state government. The announcement was made on Wednesday. The decision to award Tata was taken by a special advisory committee headed by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Other members included Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil, State Cultural Affairs Minister Ashok Chavan, Minister of State for Cultural Affairs Rana Jagjitsingh Patil, Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari, Ajith Wadekar, Madhukar Bhave and secretary State Culture and Tourism, Sanjeevani Kutty. The award carries a cash prize of Rs5 lakh, a citation and a memento.
