At
the launch, Anant Pai, the editor of 'Amar Chitra
Katha' spoke of the rationale behind the tide
of the book. "We decided to publish a book on
JRD Tata's life to place before the children a
role model whom they can derive inspiration from.
JRD was the epitome-of perseverance and was totally
committed to instilling the values of 'never giving
up' in children. His zest and zeal are apt aphorisms
of life. There are few who can match up to legends
like him."
Margie Sastry, the scriptwriter of the title added,
"JRD's life is a great inspiration for children
as he is a role model they can relate to. We have
include interesting anecdotes from his childhood
and passion for flying that he wonderfully converted
to a gift, to a nation by starting civil aviation
in India. For these endeavours, JRD was awarded
the country's highest civilian honour, the Bharat
Ratna in 1992. Yet, he remained at heart a simple,
unassuming person who refused to take himself
seriously.
Years after his pioneering flight on the Puss
Month, he re-enacted the event, to inspire little
hope and encourage the younger generation. The
32-page children's illustrated classic takes the
reader through an inspiring journey of JRD's life.
Based on intensive research of over several months
by the IBH team, the title inspires hope and enthusiasm
in the young people of the country.
