Tata, Rahul Dravid on Gates Foundation board

group chairman, Ratan Tata, cricketer Rahul Dravid and Infosys chief NR Narayana
Murthy will now be promoting the cause of HIV as part of the 22-member India AIDS
Initiative Board of Bill & Mellinda Gates Foundation (BGMF). Making a beginning
with a $100m grant made by Microsoft chief Bill Gates in November ‘02, the Gates
Foundation will soon roll out its first national programme for HIV prevention
by the first week of August, Ashok Alexander, director, BGMF, said.
"Formation of the board is a first step towards rolling of the initiative,"
he said. Rajat Gupta of Mckinsey and JVR Prasada Rao from the health ministry
will co-chair the board. Other members include Azim Premji of Wipro, Vindi Banga
of HLL, KK Abraham of INP+, DS Brar of Ranbaxy, Tarun Das of CII, NK Ganguly of
Indian Council of Medical Research and Meenaskshi Dutta Ghosh of Naco. — Agencies Helene

journalist Bachi Karkaria, Sudha Murthy, MS Ramachandran, chairman of IOC, Kapil
