Advinus Therapeutics
November 2006

Advinus Therapeutics and Veeda CR, an Anglo-lndian clinical research organisation (CRO) having specialised high-quality clinical pharmacology units in Plymouth, UK and Ahmedabad, forged an alliance to work on integrated drug discovery.

Advinus and Merck & Co formed a drug discovery and clinical development collaboration in the sphere of metabolic disorders.
Indian Hotels
September 2006

Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces joined hands with Qatar Sports Investment Company (QSI) to develop Qatar's first five-star golf and spa hotel in Doha with an investment of around QR 220 million (Rs 280 crore) spread over three years.

Formed a partnership with Eurocape in South Africa, the developers of the $137.9 million Mandela Rhodes Place, aimed at jointly developing a part of the Mandela Rhodes Place lifestyle complex in Cape Town.

Tata Coffee entered into an agreement with the Ugandan government to set up a 3,600 metric tonnes-per-annum capacity plant at an investment of Rs 70 crore.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
December 2006
TCS received a five-year, multi-million pound contract from Europe's leading manufacturer and marketer of biscuits and snacks, United Biscuits (UB).
It also signed an agreement with Morocco for setting up a 500-employees unit in that country.
TCS was selected as an ICT alliance partner by Dwr Cymru Cyfyngedig (DCC), also known as Welsh Water.
The company, furthering its expansion in Latin America, set up a global delivery centre (GDC) in Uruguay that will house over 250 personnel.

TCS acquired 75-per cent stake in Switzerland-based TKS-Teknosoft for Swiss Franc 100.5 million (around Rs 360 crore).
It acquired an Australian company for a total consideration of A$15 million (Rs 50 crore) over five years. The private consultancy firm, TCS Management, was earlier called Total Communication Solutions.
The company signed a seven-year agreement with Somerfield, a leading UK-based small-format food retailer to provide complete managed IT services.
It also planned to merge its Chinese operations with TCS China, a joint venture with the Chinese government.
The company won a large pharma BPO contract from Eli Lilly for providing drug development services. These include clinical trial data management, statistical analysis and medical writing.

Tata Motors and Italian car giant Fiat announced the formation of a joint venture with aggregate investments of over Rs 4000 crore (over euro 665 million) in a phased manner.
The company made plans to invest Rs 120 crore in the new 70:30 joint venture with the Thailand-based Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant Company to manufacture, assemble and market pick-up trucks at Thonburi's existing production facility.

The company acquired a South African manufacturing plant from Japanese auto giant Nissan. The acquired facility in Pretoria was previously engaged in truck manufacturing for the $80.5-billion Nissan.
