Ratan Tata, Chairman of the Tata Group, was presented the FIRST Award for Responsible Capitalism at a special ceremony at Marlborough House, London, by the Princess Royal.

He was also conferred the prestigious Bombay Management Association's (BMA) Entrepreneur of the Decade Award by governor SM Krishna at a glittering ceremony held at YB Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai.
He also received an honorary degree of Doctor of Literature by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences for his outstanding contribution to society in May. He also received the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan Award for 2005-06 by the state government in May.
S Ramadorai
S Ramadorai, CEO and managing director of TCS, was named the sixth most influential person in the global enterprise IT sector by Computer Business Review in July.
B Muthuraman
In April, General Kofi Annan appointed B Muthuraman, MD, Tata Steel, on the board of the UN Global Compact.
Raymond Bickson
In May, Raymond Bickson, managing director, Indian Hotels, was awarded Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management ( honoris causa), by the Johnson & Wales University, USA.
N Srinath
In April, executive director of VSNL N Srinath was named the 'Telecom CEO of the Year' by Telecom Asia, a leading publishing group, for the year 2006.

August 2006
Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces bagged the top company award in the hospitality sector at the Dun & Bradstreet American Express Corporate Award 2006.
Tata AIG Life Insurance
May 2006
Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association gave the prestigious International Quality Agent award to 61 advisors of Tata AIG Life Insurance Company. The company also won in a first-ever customer survey in insurance sector conducted by the Voluntary Organisation In Interest of Consumer Education.
Tata BP Solar
February 2006
The prestigious PV GAP Quality Mark was awarded to Tata BP Solar for its 1-80 wp TBP Mono and Polycrystalline Solar PV Modules in February 2006. Only five other companies in the world have recieved a similar award.
Tata Chemicals
April 2006 top of the page
Tata Chemicals, Babrala, won the award for excellence in the management of safety, health and environment from the Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association for the year 2004-05.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
November 2006
TCS won the CII-Exim Bank award for business excellence that recognises business excellence as a measure of organisational competitiveness. The award was given at CII's 14th Quality Summit in Bangalore.
It was rated by IDC eighth in market share among US Application Management Services (AMS) vendors. It is the first such offshore vendor to be ranked in the top ten in the US.

Tata Motors set up two new greenfield plants as part of its Rs 10,000-crore expansion programme to meet its target of more than doubling its annual sales to one million units over the next five years.

Tata Motors achieved historical overall India sales of 4 million vehicles since its inception in 1954. The company sold its four-millionth vehicle in the domestic market on October 30.

December 2006
Tata Power Company bagged licences for developing mission-critical electronic warfare systems for the Indian military. The department of industrial policy and promotion, which comes under ministry of commerce and industry, has issued seven licences to Tata Power SED.
Tata Refractories (TRL)
September 2006
Tata Refractories, Belpahar, was awarded Integrated Management System (IMS) certification by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI). By virtue of this, TRL is now certified to three management systems — Quality Management, Environment Management, and Occupational Health and Safety Management System. TRL is the first refractories company and one of the very few companies in India to have successfully implemented IMS.

Tata Group was awarded the 'Civil Society Award' by UNAIDS for its exemplary role in fighting against HIV in India, on the occasion of World AIDS Day 2006.

Tata Sponge received the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) certificate from the UN executive board for its power project that converts waste heat into power, thereby reducing green house gas emissions.

The company won the 'Best Governed Company Award 2006' for setting high standards in corporate practices. The award was presented by the Asian Centre for Corporate Governance.

Received the title of 'The Best Integrated Steel Plant in India', for the year 2001-2002, for the fifth time and the fourth successive year.

Ranked as the best steel making company in the world for the third consecutive year by World Steel Dynamics Inc, USA. It also received the first CII-ITC Sustainability Award for the year 2006.
Tinplate Company of India
May 2006
The Engineering Export Promotion Council (eastern region) awarded the All India Certificate for Export Excellence 2003-2004 in Iron & Steel category to Tinplate Company of India. The company was also commended by CII for its achievements in sustainable development.

Swept away prizes at the CII (ER) Annual Awards ceremony receiving awards for 'Sustained level of high overall productivity', 'certificate of appreciation' for safety, health and environment and 'certificate of appreciation for commendable effort' for human resource development.
Titan

Titan Industries featured in the Dun and Bradsheet (D&B) list of India's top 500 companies with a rank of 198. The profiles in the list are pre-eminent companies of corporate India that have emerged as leaders in their respective sectors.
Titan Time Products (TTPL) won the first-level recognition of 'Strong Commitment to Excellence' and was awarded the 'CII Exim Bank Award for business excellence' commendation certificate at the inaugural session of the16th National Quality summit held at Bangalore.

Titan Industries bagged three awards in the retail sector. The India Retail Forum (IRF) presented the 'Fashion Retailer of the Year' award recognising retail initiatives of both Titan and Tanishq.

The second award, The Images 'Retail Company of the Year', acknowledged the company's benchmark practices in retailing.

The third recognition, from abroad, came from Retail Asia Publishing, Singapore, that ranked Titan Industries (for their 'retail' chains — the World of Titan and Tanishq boutiques) as the No 2 retail organisation in the country.

VSNL
November 2006

VSNL Singapore (VSNL International), the international arm of Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) was named the 'Best Wholesale Carrier' at the 2006 World Communication Awards (WCA).

It also received the 'Best Pan-Asian Wholesale Provider' award at the fourth annual Capacity Magazine Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards ceremony held at the Capacity Europe 2006 show in Amsterdam.
