Tata Ryerson is a 50:50 joint venture company promoted by Tata Steel and Ryerson Tull, USA. It commenced operations in 1997 at Bara (Jamshedpur). Tata Steel is the country’s largest private integrated steel company in India, with a turnover of more than Rs 8,000 crore, while Ryerson Tull is a dominant player in the steel processing and distribution business in North America, with a turnover of more than $3 billion. 

Areas of business
The company is in the business of steel processing and distribution. It produces hot- and cold-rolled coils, strips, plates, sheets, blanks and structurals. Services undertaken by the company include inventory management, stockyard management, small lot deliveries and just-in-time supplies.

Community initiatives
Tata Ryerson company pays special emphasis on social development and allocates resources to uplift women and children of the communities in which it operates. The areas identified within this framework are health, education, infrastructure development and achieving self-reliance.

The human resources department of the company develops an annual community development plan in collaboration with non-governmental organisations and members of the community.

Locations
Tata Ryerson has its headquarters at Kolkata, and it has a facility at Pune. Besides expanding its facilities at Jamshedpur and Pune, the company recently started warehousing and distribution operations at Faridabad and Kolkata.
