Tata Projects creates National record
September
14, 2001
Tata
Projects Limited (TPL) has created a record in
the history of 500 MW Boiler Installations in
India by erecting the 500 MW Boiler Drum of Unit
IV at NTPC, Talcher in a period of 4 months and
28 days despite losing a number of days due to
heavy monsoon and cyclonic conditions in the state
of Orissa. Achieving this milestone normally takes
seven months and this record achievement would
result in an overall reduction of 2-3 months in
the completion of the 500 MW Boiler installation.
TPL
personnel have achieved this record owing to the
unstinted efforts of Project Team and site personnel
who have toiled for at least 18 hrs a day to achieve
the work targets while striving to achieve greater
goals.
This
historic milestone has been achieved while adhering
to the high standard of workmanship and quality
demanded by NTPC/BHEL in addition to maintaining
an unblemished safety record at site.
This
accomplishment has been widely appreciated by
all in the Power Sector Industry, especially by
NTPC and BHEL.
TPL
has once again reiterated its commitment towards
ensuring their clients the benefit of project
execution with single point responsibility with
high focus on quality, timely completion and maintaining
high safety standards. To enhance the communication
transparency between the Client and TPL regarding
the progress of the project, TPL is using an innovative
concept of Web enabled project management, where
progress of work is monitored on their website
with the help of Web enabled project monitoring
software (PS-8). The execution plan for completion
of the project can be viewed as well as the progress
achieved on all fronts, including the physical
progress in the form photographs taken from digital
cameras at the site of work.
This
unique method of project management has provided
them with a tactical advantage of faster dissemination
of the information, decision making and timely
debottle necking, resulting in faster execution
of projects.
Presently,
Tata Projects is actively involved in execution
of number of projects in the power sectors in
India and abroad.
