Motors total vehicle sales at 45,681 nos, up by 26.2
per cent

Tata Motors reported a total
sale of 45,681 vehicles (including exports) for the
month of August 2006, a growth of 26.2 per cent over
36,205 vehicles sold in August last year. Cumulative
sales for the company at 2,16,891 nos are growing by
40 per cent.
Commercial vehicles
The company's sales of commercial vehicles in August
2006 in the domestic market were 23,069 nos, an increase
of 35 per cent over 17,071 vehicles sold in August last
year. M&HCV sales stood at 13,455 a growth of 38.6
per cent over August 2005 while LCV sales were 9,614
nos, a growth of 30.6 per cent over August 2005.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic
market for the fiscal were 1,07,745 nos, an increase
of 57.8 per cent over the corresponding period last
year. Cumulative M&HCV sales stood at 62,201 nos,
an increase of 52.8 per cent over the previous year
while LCV sales for the period were 45,544 nos, an increase
of 65.4 per cent over the previous year.
Passenger vehicles
The passenger vehicle business reported a total sale
of 17,541 vehicles in the domestic market in August
2006, an increase of 26.4 per cent over August 2005.
The Indica sold 11,920 nos, a growth of 48 per cent
over August 2005. The Indigo family registered sales
of 2170 nos, a decline of 31.5 per cent over August
2005. The Sumo and Safari accounted for sales of 3451
nos, a growth of 29.7 per cent over August 2005. Safari
recorded its highest ever sales of 1305 nos, in any
month, in August.
Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic
market for the fiscal were 85,685 nos, an increase of
25.9 per cent over the previous year. Cumulative sales
of Indica at 57,034 nos registered a growth of 41.1
per cent over the previous year while cumulative sales
of the Indigo family at 13,075 nos registered a decline
of 13.5 per cent over last year. Cumulative sales of
Sumo and Safari were 15,576 nos, a growth of 24.3 per
cent over last year.
Exports
The company's sales from exports were 5071 vehicles
in August 2006 as compared to 5,256 vehicles in August
2005, a decrease of 3.5 per cent. The cumulative sales
from exports in the current period at 23,461 nos have
recorded a 26.5-per cent growth over the corresponding
figures for the previous period.
