Motors conferred with Sustainability Award 2006

award is based on assessment of Tata Motors' corporate
governance practices and economic, environmental and
social performance
Tata Motors has been conferred
with the prestigious 'CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2006
for Significant Achievement on the Journey towards Sustainable
Development'. This is the first year that this award
is being conferred.
The award is based on assessment
of Tata Motors' corporate governance practices and economic,
environmental and social performance the Triple
Bottomline concept as per guidelines of the Global Reporting
Initiative (GRI).
The assessment included, among
various factors, the company's practices to engage with
and initiate action on stakeholders' concerns and perceptions,
proactive initiatives going beyond statutory compliances,
resource use efficiency on scarce resources like water
and energy, enhancement of living standards in adjacent
neighbourhoods, transparency and reporting standards,
processes for diversification with new products and
into new markets.
The jury selected Tata
Motors for the award based on a site visit report by
independent assessors.
