Tata
Motors 128th passenger car dealership fully
operational in Kolkata

As part of its on-going
dealership network expansion plans, Tata Motors,
Indias largest automobile manufacturing
company, announced the opening of its 128th car
dealership in India with the inauguration of M/s
R D Motors at Kolkata. Two state-of-art facilities
spread over 45,000 square feet were inaugurated
in the presence of Somnath Chatterjee, Lok Sabha
speaker, Subhas Chakraborty, minister for transport
and sports in the West Bengal government and Amitava
Nandy, member of parliament. Also present at the
occasion was Rajiv Dube, vice president
commercial, Tata Motors.
R D Motors is part of the
Rs 250 crore RDB Group. The R D Motors
dealership located at B T Road will cater to the
northern area of the city, complemented by the
second set-up, a two-level modern showroom at
Kolkatas prime VIP Road. An ultra modern
46-bay workshop complete with advanced equipment,
tools and machineries is now fully operational
at Rajarhat Road.
R D Motors is the fifth
car dealership in the state of West Bengal and
the 21st in the eastern region.
With the inauguration of
dealership operations at M/s R D Motors, customers
of Tata Motors passenger vehicles in and
around Kolkata can now look forward to increased
options and choice, as well as enhanced levels
of support for the vehicles that they purchase.
Tata Motors dealerships
retail a comprehensive range of passenger vehicles
for the Indian market. The product range comprises
of five brands:
- The Safari range of
premium sports utility vehicles
- The Tata Indigo, a best
seller in the entry mid-size segment and the
recently launched Indigo Marina, which has virtually
revived the dormant estate market.
- The Indica V2, Indias
leading compact car
- The Sumo range,
which continues to be amongst the leading brands
in the utility vehicle segment.
Tata Motors recently introduced
the Tata Indica in Turkey. The company also showcased
its latest crossover concept car,
XOver, a luxurious seven-seater tourer with the
visible cues of a sports utility vehicle, at the
prestigious 75th Geneva Motor Show, held earlier
this month.
Tata Motors is the second
largest passenger vehicle player in the domestic
market with a market share of 16.9 per cent. Including
the Sumo and Safari, over 800,000 passenger vehicles
ply on Indian roads. The company also exports
its passenger vehicles to markets in Europe, South
Africa and the SAARC region.
Tata Motors is the
largest automaker in the country spanning the
widest range of commercial and passenger vehicles.
The company achieved a total turnover of Rs 14,226
crore for the period April - December 2004 with
a net profit of Rs 849 crore.
