Tata
Motors to supply 350 buses to Senegal

Tata
Motors, India's largest automobile manufacturer,
has bagged an export order to supply 350 buses
to Senegal. This order, worth $18 million, has
been sanctioned by the Finance Ministry, through
EXIM Bank under the New Partnership for African
Development (NEPAD) scheme. Tata Motors' share
of business in this order for 350 buses is 100
per cent.
A
Line of Credit Agreement was signed today between
the ambassador of Senegal in India, Amadou Bocoum,
and R M V Raman, executive director, EXIM Bank
of India, in the presence of T C Venkat Subramanian,
chairman and managing director, EXIM Bank of India,
and P G Shankar, head of international business,
Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors.
The
first shipment of buses to Senegal will move out
in the first week of February 2005. States P G
Shankar, This order for 350 buses comes
to us as an encouragement at a time when we are
looking at boosting our presence in Francophone
West Africa. The company has helped in the
setting up of a bus assembly unit in Senegal last
year.
Tata
Motors, with revenues of over $3.5 billion (FY
2003-04), is a flagship company of the Tata Group.
It is the worlds fifth largest medium and
heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer and produces
more than 150 commercial vehicle models with a
range of light, medium to heavy-duty trucks, buses
and tractor-trailers. Tata Motors is the second
largest player in the domestic passenger car market
in India. Two of its five passenger vehicle brands
are among the top 10 selling models in India.
