Tata
Motors bags Rs 55crore order from State
Transport Corporations in Karnataka

Tata
Motors, Indias largest automobile manufacturer,
has bagged an order for 1,070 bus chassis from
various state transport corporations in Karnataka.
This is the single largest order that the company
has ever received from the Karnataka State Transport
Corporation and represents 100-per cent share
of business for the orders placed.
The
different constituents for this Tata Euro II bus
chassis order are: Bangalore Metropolitan TC (BMTC),
Karnataka State Road Transportation Corporation
(Central), North West KRTC and North East KRTC.
States Shyam Mani, vice president of sales, Commercial
Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, Based
on our success with this order, we expect our
share of business with the Karnataka state transport
corporations to grow from 37 per cent in the year
2003-04 to over 60 per cent this fiscal on a growing
base. The complete order is to be executed
between January-March 2005.
Tata
Motors, with revenues of over US$ 3.5 billion
(FY 2003-04), is a flagship company of the Tata
Group. It is the worlds fifth largest medium
and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer and
produces more than 150 commercial vehicle models
with a range of light, medium to heavy-duty trucks,
buses and tractor-trailers. Tata Motors is the
second largest player in the domestic passenger
car market in India. Two of its five passenger
vehicle brands are among the top 10 selling models
in India.
