Total
sales at 35,283 units, up 31 per cent Highest ever
passenger vehicle sales achieved in a month

Tata
Motors reported a total sale (including exports)
of 35,283 vehicles in October 2004, an increase
of 31.3 per cent over 26,862 vehicles sold
in October 2003.
The sales for the period April - October, 2004
were 215,777, a jump of 30.5 per cent over 165,384
nos. sold in the corresponding period last year.
Commercial vehicles (CV)
The company sold 16,667 vehicles in October 2004
in the domestic market, an increase of 29.6 per
cent over October 2003 sales. Total CV sales in
the domestic market at 100,620 nos. showed a growth
of 30.7 per cent over 76,994 nos. sold in the
same period last fiscal.
M&HCV sales for the first seven months of
the year stood at 68,918 nos. (50937 nos. last
year), representing a growth of 35.3 per cent,
and LCV sales at 31,702 nos. (26,057 nos. last
year) grew 21.7 per cent.
Passenger vehicles
The company became the official vehicle and country
sponsor for India for the First India Asean Car
Rally, being flagged off from Guwahati on November
22, 2004. The company achieved its highest sales
ever in any month in October, crossing the 16,000-sale
mark for the first time with a total sale of 16,332
nos. This was a growth of 33.2 per cent over October
2003 and the fifth occasion this calendar year
when the company improved its best ever monthly
performance. For the fiscal, cumulative sales
at 102,280 nos. are growing by 29 per cent.
The overall sales in October were aided by robust
Indica sales, which also had its best month ever
with a sale of 9,634 nos. Cumulative sales for
the fiscal at 62,090 nos. are growing by 32 per
cent. The company launched a fourth intermediate
variant of the Indica range in October, which
has been received well. The Indigo Marina continued
to have a strong demand pull in the second month
of its launch with the Indigo family’s sales holding
on to September peak levels, with a sale of 3,698
nos. The company’s offerings in the entry mid-size
segment this fiscal are growing by 47.3 per cent
this fiscal. Sumo and Safari sales at 3,000 nos.
for the month and at 17,326 nos. for the
fiscal are growing by 4.2 per cent.
Exports
The company’s exports for the month of October
2004 were 2,284 nos. as against 1,737 nos. sold
in October 2003 .The cumulative export sales for
the period April-October 2004 were 12,877 nos.
an increase of 40.7 per cent over 9,153 nos. sold
in the same period last year.
