Motors July sales continue to show upward trend
Total sales at 30,057 units, up 20 per cent Passenger
vehicles achieve a new milestone in July’04

Tata
Motors sales in July 2004 continued to show an
upward trend with the company clocking total sales
of 30,057 vehicles (including exports), up by
20.3 per cent over sales in July 2003. Cumulative
sales for the company in the period April - July
2004 were 114, 975 units as against 86,013 vehicles
sold last year, representing a growth of 33.7
per cent.
Commercial vehicles
Sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market
in July 2004 were 13,215 units, an increase of
16 per cent over 11,384 units of commercial vehicles
sold in the domestic market in July 2003. M&HCV
sales at 9,136 units grew 17.4 per cent and LCV
vehicles at 4,079 units grew 13.3 per cent over
the corresponding period last year.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the
domestic market for the period April - July 2004
were 53092 units, a growth of 39.6 per cent over
38,035 vehicles sold in the same period last year.
Passenger vehicles
The passenger vehicle business further improved
its previous highest sales of June 2004 (15077)
in the domestic market by achieving sales of 15,275
units in July 2004. The company achieved a growth
of 25.4 per cent in July 2004 in the domestic
market over the corresponding period last year.
Cumulative sales in the domestic market for the
period April -July 2004 were 56,056 units, a growth
of 32.5 per cent over the corresponding period
last year.
Indica surpassed its previous highest sales of
June 2004 (9,426 units) by achieving a sale of
9,534 cars in July 2004. Cumulative sales for
Indica at 34,670 are growing by 37 per cent. Indigo
too improved upon its previous highest sales of
June 2004 (3224 units), with a sale of 3,296 vehicles
in July 2004. Cumulative sales for the Indigo
at 12,267 units are growing by 46 per cent. Sumo
and Safari achieved a sale of 2,445 units in the
month and cumulative sales for the fiscal at 9,119
units are growing by 6.5 per cent.
Exports
The company’s exports for the month of July 2004
were 1,567 units as against 1,430 vehicles sold
in July 2003 , representing an increase of 9.6
per cent.
