Motors' June sales up 33.3 per cent

Tata
Motors reported a total sale of 30,183 vehicles
(including exports) for the month of June 2004,
a growth of 33.3 per cent over 22,644 vehicles
sold in June last year. Cumulative sales for the
company for the fiscal at 84,918 units are growing
by 40.6 per cent. The company’s sales in June
2004 in the domestic market stood at 28,522 units
as against 21,133 vehicles sold last year, an
increase of 35 per cent. Cumulative domestic sales
for the fiscal at 80,658 units are growing by
42.1 per cent.
Commercial vehicles
The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in June 2004 in the domestic market stood at
13,445
units, an increase of 36.4 per cent over 9,858 units sold in June last year. M&HCV sales at
9,355
units grew 44.7 per cent and LCV sales at 4,090 units grew 20.5
per cent over the corresponding period last year.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles for the fiscal stood at
39,877
numbers, an increase of 49.7 per cent over 26,641 vehicles sold in the same period last year.
Passenger vehicles
The passenger vehicle business reported its highest ever sale in a month at
15,077 vehicles in June
2004 in the domestic market, an increase of 33.7 per cent over June
2003. Cumulative sales for the fiscal at 40,781 units are up by
35.4 per cent.
Indica registered its highest ever sale in a month at 9,426
units in June 2004 and cumulative sales at 25,136 units are growing by
37.6 per cent. Indigo registered its highest ever sale in a month and that by any sedan in the industry at
32,24
units in the month. Cumulative sales at 8,971 units are growing by
55.9 per cent. Sumo and Safari registered a sale of 2,427
units in the month, and on a cumulative sale of 6,674 units, the models have registered a growth of
9.5 per cent for the fiscal.
Exports
The company’s sales from exports were 1,661 vehicles
in June 2004 as compared to 1,511 vehicles in
June 2003. The cumulative sales from exports in
the current period so far at 4,260 units have
recorded a 17.2 per cent growth over the corresponding
figures for the previous period.
