Tata Motors launches Magic and Winger
The Economic Times — August 23, 2007

Kolkata: Tata Motors on Thursday launched two light commercial vehicles, Magic and Winger in the metropolis.

Magic, a four to seven-seater passenger vehicle, has been developed on the Ace platform.

"The Winger is a new platform altogether and uses the Tata Sumo engine," Tata Motors regional manager VK Sahay said.

The Winger, which seats nine to 13 passengers, will be available in three variants from standard to luxury. The ex-showroom price is between Rs4.78 lakh and Rs5.7 lakh.

Sahay ruled out phasing out of the Tata Sumo as Winger is priced similarly with higher seating capacity.

The Winger, he said, will target the tour and travel segment.

Lexus Motors managing director Binod Agarwal said that success of Magic will depend on getting stage carriage approval to compete with city autos.

Magic and Winger are being produced in the Pune facility of the company.
