Tata Motors unit wins CII-Exim Bank award
The Hindu Business Line — September 1, 2006

The Commercial Vehicles Business Unit of Tata Motors has won the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - Exim Bank Award for Business Excellence 2005.

Six other companies have been chosen for `Significant Achievements' and 32 others for `Strong Commitment to Excel'.

These companies, hailing both from the public and private sectors, include group companies of BHEL, NTPC, BEL, GAIL, Tata, L&T, Reliance, Kirloskar, Coca-Cola, Murugappa and Aditya Birla Group.

Congratulating the winners, CII President Mr R Seshasayee said that the award represents the transition of Indian industry from an insular and defensive existence to an outward looking and confident one in the last two decades, adding that the TQM initiatives of CII had played a major role in this process.

Past recipients of the award (instituted in 1994) include Hewlett Packard, Maruti Udyog, Tata Steel and Infosys Technologies. Infosys was the last company to win the award in 2002. Between 2002 and 2005, no company had won the award.
