Good news for Tata Motors temporaries

The Tata Motors management has come out with the final list of temporary workers who will be given permanent employee on Monday next. The names of the workers, their ticket numbers and respective company divisions have been put up at labour bureau. The temporaries with ticket numbers between 80110 and 80554 have been made permanent. The news has brought much joy among the temporary workers.

A tripartite meeting was held early this year in February headed by State Labour Commissioner Nidhi Khare and attended by representatives of management, trade union and labour department. An agreement to take 400 temporary workers on the payroll was signed. The Tata Motors management took 200 temporaries on the company's payroll in February. Later another 100 temporaries were made permanent in the month of September.

Now, names of the remaining 100 have been made public. According to company officials, the temporary workers would be issued a card for medical cost The workers are required to go with the card to Khadangajhar Hospital for the medical test. After getting through the medical test, the workers will be given a form for becoming permanent employees of the company. However (TWU general secretary" Gopeshwar felt that it was not necessary for the temporaries to get a medical test, because when the registered wards were taken in as temporary' workers they had undergone medical tests.
