Huge discounts on Tata cars
The Times Of India — December 7, 2005

It seems to be the right time to buy a Tata car owing to the lucrative discounts offered. Tata Motors is offering discounts of up to Rs 35,000 over the next two weeks on its entire range of cars as a promotional strategy, distributors said. The Indica petrol version will now cost Rs 2.76 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) after a cash discount of Rs 35,000. If one avails a finance scheme the discount rises by Rs 55,000-60,000. It has announced this offer after it crossed the one million mark in passenger car sales in October.

A dealer said, "The discounts have been announced for all models across the board beginning from Rs 14,000 for the Tata Safari and going up to Rs 35,000 for the Indica V2. These discounts will help clear the pileup of old stocks as well.'' It is offering a discount of Rs 18,000 on the Indigo diesel version and Rs 25,000 on the petrol version. The entry level Indigo diesel will now be available at Rs 4.67 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). After discounts, the Tata Sumo range begins from Rs 4.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 6.64 for the high end 4x4 version.

Another city-based dealer said, "The promotional offer began on Tuesday and will continue till December 20. Car sales have almost doubled on Tuesday and we expect this trend to continue for some time.'' "Tata Motors has recently introduced the Indica V2 turbo version, which has been very successful. It is likely that the company is looking to push the sales of this model as the discount on this model is only Rs 5,000. Also, it will be keen to exhaust the Bharat Stage-II stock, since the new pollution norms will come into force from next year,'' an analyst said.
