Indigo's
ahead of rivals for 2nd month in a row

Telco’s
mid-size sedan, the Indigo, continues to have
a clear lead over competitors in the C segment.
In its second month in February, the company sold
1,772 Indigos, as compared to Hyundai’s 1,200
Accents and Maruti’s around 700 Esteems. Indigo’s
cumulative sales stood at 4,384 units for the
fiscal.
Indica
sales, at 5,030 units in February ’03, resulted
in its cumulative sales for the fiscal growing
16% to 64,310 units, when compared with the previous
fiscal. The company’s utility vehicle sales were
flat at 2,078 units, taking the cumulative sales
up to 21,303 units for the fiscal.
The
company sold 11,272 commercial vehicles in February
’03, 46% more than the 7,715 units sold in February
’02. The cumulative sales of commercial vehicles
rose 34% to 95,431 units in the fiscal.
M&HCV
sales, at 8,208 units, grew 65% in February, while
the cumulative sales for the April-February period
rose 35% to 66,005 units. LCV sales for the April-February
period were at 29,426 units, a growth of 31% over
the corresponding period last year.
Telco
reported total sales of 20,152 vehicles in the
domestic market in February ’03, representing
an increase of 20.8% over February ’02. Total
sales for the April-February period stood at 1.85
lakh units, up 25% over the corresponding period
last year.
