Tata Metaliks nets Rs 64.10 crore

Tata Metaliks posted a net profit of Rs 64.10 crore on a turnover of Rs 312.27 crore during 2004-05 as against a profit of Rs 24.81 crore in the previous fiscal year. Tata Metaliks chairman T Mukherjee said the company had recorded a sales turnover of Rs 283 crore during 2004-05 compared with Rs 143 crore last year.

He said the company which produced pig iron, has set a target of manufacturing 3.25 lakh tonne in the current fiscal. It would also increase its export to 60,000 tonne which constituted 20 per cent of the total production, in 2005-06 as against 11 per cent in 2004-05. Mukherjee said Tata Metaliks was now diversifying into steel making by setting up a long product plant at Kharagpur adjacent to its existing plant which would produce steel billets.
