Metaliks plans 10% hike in Kharagpur unit

Tata
Metaliks, the pig iron maker in the Tata stable,
has decided to raise its capacity at its Kharagpur
plant by 10%.
Speaking
to shareholders here on Saturday at the company’s
AGM, the TML chairman TK Mukherjee said that minor
investments will be required to increase the pig
iron making capacity. He said the company did
not have any major investment plan at the moment.
Regarding
TML’s first quarter performance Mr Mukherjee informed
that sales has increased by 17% in volume terms.
TML, which produced around 1.3 lakh tonnes of
hot metal last year, already achieved a 106% of
its name-plate capacity. This was higher by around
20% compared to the previous year’s production
of around 1.1. lakh tonnes of hot metal.
TML
notched up a gross income of Rs 115 crore in ’01-02
as against Rs 99 crore in previous year.
