Tata
Leathers are now produced in China
July 9, 2004
Tata International’s
Leather GBU has a significant share of finished
leather exports to the Far East from its Indian
operations. Some of the key service requirements
of the customers are faster deliveries of small
quantities and samples in multiple colours. In
its efforts to enhance services to the customers,
the company has entered into a finished leather
production agreement with a tannery in China.
A team comprising of Mr O. K. Kaul, President
Leather GBU, Mr Rajesh Sharma, General Manager
and Mr Ashwani Goel, DGM, visited the tannery
for formalising the agreement. On July 9, 2004,
a Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Mr O.
K. Kaul on behalf of Tata International Limited
and by Mr Tjia Tjat Tjoy Woen, President of Jiangmen
City Lianyou Leather Factory Co. Ltd.
Tata International will procure orders, organise
raw material and provide technical inputs to the
tannery. Mr Rajib Ghosh, Leather Technician from
Tata International has been posted in the tannery.
This
new initiative is another step in Tata International’s
continuous efforts to remain competitive in the
global leather business.
