Tata
International signs MoU with Turbo Genset,
UK
October 29, 2003
A Memorandum
of Understanding was signed today between the
Turbo Genset Company Limited (TGC), UK and Tata
International Limited regarding business development
for innovative distributed generation products
and solutions for India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Proffessor
Colin Besant, chairman, TGC and Sudhir Deoras,
managing director, Tata International signed the
MoU at Mumbai. This is the culmination of a development
initiative by Tata International, spanning the
last decade, for a fora on behalf of the
Tata Group for high technology products in the
power sector, which is vital for India and its
neighboring countries.
TGC is a UK-based
high technology company, engaged in design and
manufacture of turbo-generating systems and variable
speed generating sets for use in distributed generation,
combined heat and power and power quality applications.
The TGC product range includes turbine and reciprocating
engine-based power generation and power electronics
products.
In phase one,
the market development in India, Sri Lanka and
Bangladesh will be based on the import of the
TGC range of products from the UK and the balance
equipment sourced from India for the specific
application.
In phase two,
after the volumes have been sufficiently raised,
the progressive transfer of subsystems for manufacture
in India will be considered.
The
introduction of the high-tech and state-of-the-art
innovative distributed generation products and
solutions is expected to lead to considerable
ecological improvement in addition to significant
operational savings for industrial users.
