forms JV with DLT Sri Lanka

Tata
International Ltd on Monday announced setting up of
a joint venture with Dutch Lanka Trailer Manufacturers
(Pvt) Ltd (DLT), Sri Lanka to manufacture trailers
in India.
The 50:50 joint venture, to
be named Tata International DLT Pvt Ltd, will set
up a trailer manufacturing facility at Chakan, a company
release said here.
It, however, did not disclose
the investments for setting up the new manufacturing
plant. The JV unit will manufacture the full range
of trailers such as skeletal trailer, flat bed trailer,
tipper trailer, car carrier, port trailers, cement
bulkers, low-bed trailers, for all market segments,
it added.
The newly-formed company will
cater to the fast growing requirement of trailers
from the fully built vehicle division of Tata Motors
(TML), which will market the prime movers along with
the trailers as a single product to the customers,
it said, adding that it would provide a single point
after sales service, as well as, financing facility.
DLT has a manufacturing facility
in Sri Lanka and has been selling trailers not only
in Sri Lanka, but also exporting them to Bangladesh,
UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Philippines, Syria, Iran
and some countries in Africa.
During the last four
years TIL has imported several trailers from DLT and
these have been sold to various customers in India.
The new JV proposes to manufacture trailers in India
based on the designs of DLT.
