Mumbai: Cummins India Ltd has collaborated with Tata Engineering to make forays into the lower end of the diesel engine market. The result of this effort is the Little Master 'S' series compact genset in the 30 -62.5 KVA range. The first consignment was flagged off from here on Monday. The engines have been sourced from Tata Engineering which are then been modified and value-added by Cummins to offer total power solutions rather than just offering engines to customers.

"This launch is also significant because it marks Cummins' entry into a non-traditional area - the vast unexplored consumer market," Cummins India Ltd chairman Ravi Venkatesan said. Cummins had so far been concentrating on the 100 HP to the 2700 HP category and is now seeking to expand its market by going into the below 100 HP range.

The new ready to use compact engines will have a customer profile ranging from residential complexes, farm houses, hotels to satellite and mobile towers.
