The
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has installed solar
water heating systems from Tata BP Solar. The 516 solar
collectors totaling 64,000 lpd benefit over 2,500 pilgrims
and save TTD 2,500 kw of power every day.
The temple town of Tirupati is
located at the foothills of Tirumala, the abode of Lord
Venkateshwara. Believed to be the second most visited
religious centre in the world, the Tirupati Venkateshwara
Temple attracts around 60,000 pilgrims every day. TTD
provides them all facilities to make their pilgrimage
a unique and rewarding spiritual experience.
Before Tata BP Solar installed
its solar water heaters at the temple complex, pilgrims
were dependant on electric geysers for hot water. These
geysers were switched on for a limited period of time.
The solar heaters now provide hot water to pilgrims
almost round-the-clock. Moreover, this unique turnkey
project was executed within four months without putting
the pilgrims to any inconvenience.
