Tata
BP Solar awarded PV GAP Accreditation
February 15,
2006
The
prestigious PV GAP Quality Mark has been awarded to
Tata BP Solar for its 1Wp to 80Wp TBP Mono and Polycrystalline
Solar PV Modules. Tata BP Solar now joins only five
other companies in the world who have been awarded similarly.
PV GAP (Global Approval Program
for Photovoltaics) based in Geneva, Switzerland, is
a not-for-profit international organisation dedicated
to the sustained growth of global photovoltaics by promoting
use of internationally accepted standards and quality
management processes. PV GAP has created an internationally
recognised quality benchmark for photovoltaic products
awarded to the manufacturers holding IECEE conformity
assessment certification and ISO 9001 or similar quality
management system certification.
Tata BP Solar is a joint venture
of Tata Power and BP Solar and the largest solar company
in Asia (outside Japan). The manufacturing facilities
in Bangalore are the largest of its kind in India. The
product range covers applications like lighting, water
pumping, rural electrification, telecommunication, computer
powerpacks, offshore power systems, navigational aids
and water heating.
Telecom trail
India, in its path to progress, is focused on rural
development and one of the initiatives is to boost teleconnectivity.
The Indian Railways have embarked on a pilot project
in the route between Ludhiana and Pathankot to establish
GSM network for better online communication between
the train and the stations.
This order of significance has
been placed on Tata BP Solar by the contracting agency,
Siemens Public Communication Networks, for supply of
23 nos 4.2 kWp solar power systems at a project value
of nearly Rs 20 million.
This is sure to open up many
opportunities for such projects in the days to come.
A record of sorts
Close on the heels of the telecom order, Tata BP Solar
has bagged order valued at Rs 20 million to supply four
sets of solar power systems for telemetry, gas detection
and navigational aids to Larsen & Toubro for installation
at ONGC offshore platforms in Bombay High.
Tata BP Solar has so far executed
over 40 platform contracts and continues its impressive
and invincible record in this business segment.
Another sales success
Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency has placed
an order on Tata BP Solar for seven nos of 5kWp solar
power plants for rural electrification to be installed
in the rural districts of Haryana. This contract worth
Rs 16 million will be a precursor for many such future
projects across Northern India.
