Echo of India — September 8, 2006

The Tata Steel's six million tonne (mt) steel project at Kalinga Nagar would come into being in two years time, the company's MD Mr.B. Muthuraman, said on Wednesday.

Mr.Muthuraman was speaking at a function after inauguration of the TCS development centre and Ginger, described as a 'low cost, high value' hotel here this evening. The Tata group chairman, Mr. Ratan Tata, was also present at the function.

The chief minister, Mr. Naveen Patnaik, who inaugurated the two new facilities, said that he was sure about Tata Steel's new steel project coming up at Kalinga Nagar. Referring to the land provided to Tata Steel at Gopalpur for the establishment of a steel project in the 1990s which did not come up, the chief minister said he was hopeful of something constructive coming up there as well.
