Rallis
profit surges in Q-2
October 25, 2005
Quarterly
results
In continuation of its impressive turnaround over the
last two years, Rallis India announced Q-2 profits which
are substantially higher than those for Q-2 last year.
This profit performance was based primarily on an increase
of 20 per cent in pesticide sales and includes a gain
of Rs 10.66 crore on account of the sale of a business
unit.
Further
a strong drive to cut costs and control interest expenses
helped to achieve the increased profit.
Half yearly results
During the half year, Rallis improved its market share
in pesticides. For the period ended September 2005,
pesticides sales increased by 18 per cent while the
overall industry has witnessed a declining trend compared
to last year.
PBT for H1 at Rs 35.13 crore
is also considerably higher than the PBT for the corresponding
period of the previous financial year
Outlook
The positive reservoir situation holds promise of a
good rabi season for the country. The companys
broad product portfolio has been enriched by alliances
with major agrochemical companies. Combined with control
of costs and capital employed this is expected to contribute
significantly to sustaining financial results.
