The Hellen Keller awards were started as an initiative to recognise and celebrate the good work done by the corporate world and individuals towards promoting employment opportunities for specially-abled persons in India.

Trent Hypermarket is one of the largest contributors for equal employment opportunities for the specially-abled across the retail industry. Seven percent of Trent Hypermarket’s total manpower is comprised of people with disabilities. In the past few years, the growth of specially-abled employees as a part of the total workforce stands at a 200 percent rise.

In order to facilitate smooth integration of specially-abled colleagues with the rest of the business, Trent Hypermarket has partnered with organisations that help with 360-degree surveys involving special colleagues, peers, supervisors, store managers and parents to identify areas for improvement to make Star an inclusive workplace which will provide its specially-abled employees support to work confidently and lead teams, thus promoting integration not just in letter but in spirit as well.
