Tata Power Delhi Distribution deploys electric and CNG-powered vehicles for eco-friendly maintenance

New Delhi: This summer, to help meet eventualities and provide speedier maintenance even in congested areas while being eco-friendly, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has inducted 42 electric scooters (e-scooters), 8 e-rickshaws and 3 compact CNG tower wagons in its maintenance fleet.

Tata Power-DDL deploys electric and CNG-powered vehicles, and goes eco-freindly

In congested city areas, the e-scooters help reach destinations faster round the clock. These scooters can easily manoeuvre in crowded areas and can be parked in limited spaces without disturbing traffic. The scooters can also reach places where cars and trucks are not allowed.

For rural areas, Tata Power-DDL has also deployed dedicated e-rickshaws to help carry out maintenance work. Presently, there are eight e-rickshaws deployed, the number is likely to increase in the coming months.

Tata Power-DDL has also deployed CNG tower wagons, which are compact in size and run on cleaner fuel. The tower wagons produce up to 95 percent less tailpipe emissions compared to petrol- or diesel-powered vehicles. They also produce 20-30 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions and have no evaporative emissions as CNG fuel systems are completely sealed.

The eco-friendly drive

  • 42 e-scooters for easy manoeuvring in crowded and congested areas.
  • 8 e-rickshaws dedicated to carry out maintenance work in rural areas.
  • 3 CNG tower wagons to move in tight spots in environment-friendly manner.

Speaking on the initiative, Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power-DDL, said, “As a responsible corporate, we are continually introducing new environment-friendly initiatives. Introduction of e-vehicles and CNG tower wagons in the maintenance fleet is a step in that direction. I am confident the move will contribute towards lessening air pollution in Delhi.”
