Built by Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco), a subsidiary of Tata Steel, the two-storied school building is spread across a 25,000 sq ft built-up area.

Addressing the gathering Mr Mallick said, “I thank Tata Steel and admire its consistent efforts towards enhancing the life of the people in Odisha. Construction of Model Schools across the state will be immensely beneficial, especially to the children from underserved communities. It has helped us streamline and bring quality education infrastructure, which was not possible until a few years ago. These Model Schools will encourage children to enrol and study well.”

Speaking on this occasion Mr Sunil Bhaskaran, said, “The Model Schools will create the perfect environment needed for children from underserved communities to seek education and move forward in their lives.  We remain committed to implementing developmental initiatives in Odisha. Our numerous social endeavours in the state have always received thorough support of the government, without whom we would not have achieved success.”

To make quality education infrastructure available to students in far flung areas of Odisha, Tata Steel has signed a MoU with the state government to construct 30 model schools across the state. This initiative by the steel major, is part of the Government of Odisha’s plan of setting up model schools (Adarsha Vidyalaya) in each block within the state. While three schools (Danagadi, Kamakhyanagar and Nayagarh) are ready, 11 schools are under construction. Tata Steel aims to complete building the schools and hand them over to the government by the end of 2018. The model school (Adarsha Vidyalaya) constructed by Tata Steel at Gohirapatuli in Ranipada panchayat under Danagadi block in Jajpur district was inaugurated on December 23, 2016.
