Tata Sky pays Rs2200 crore as taxes including Rs561 crore license fee in 2017-18
Mumbai: Tata Sky, India's leading content distribution platform, today paid Rs561 crore as license fee at 10 percent of revenue for 2017-18, the highest ever payment made by a private operator to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Including the license fee, Tata Sky would have paid in excess of Rs2200 crore as taxes and levies to the government in the year gone by.
Harit Nagpal, MD and CEO, Tata Sky, said,“With the payment made today, we have paid license fee, past and current, as per specified rates, regardless of pending litigations between the government and the platforms.”
