Tata Power's Trombay plant bags the Environment Excellence Award
Mumbai, Pune and Delhi: Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, today, announced that the company's Trombay team has been honoured with the Environment Excellence Award by Mission Energy Foundation. The award was presented in recognition of the team’s efforts in meeting the new environmental norms for sulphur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions.

The Environment Excellence Award was introduced at SOx NOx 2017 conference, honouring innovative developments and solutions for better performance, excellence and sustainability in the thermal power sector.
Tata Power’s Trombay Thermal Power Plant has installed sea water-based Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) unit for SO2 control, low NOx burners, over-fire dampers for NOx control high-efficiency Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) for particulate emissions control and uses low sulphur, low ash and high moisture imported coal of Indonesian origin for effectively controlling the emissions.
Mission Energy Foundation recognises companies and their power units for having strong concern and commitment for environment management, and are willing to improve their own performance. The awards serve as a catalyst to understanding the intrinsic value of environment management in business excellence and sustainability. The aim is to encourage and motivate to adopt best practices and become role models for others to emulate. Prashant Kokil, chief sustainability office (MO), Tata Power and RR Kamath, environment officer, Tata Power, accepted the award on behalf of the team.
