Tata Power's Industrial Energy implements education excellency programme
Kalinganagar and Bhubaneshwar: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been a front-runner in driving the holistic development of its communities. The company lays special emphasis on the education of the youth for a bright future of its communities. In line with the Tata Power philosophy, Industrial Energy (IEL) has implemented the education excellence programme to strengthen the basic knowledge of the poor and backward classes of the students in Jajpur district of Odisha. The programme is implemented in joint collaboration with CAAD, a leading NGO of Odisha.
The programme has benefitted more than 3,000 students from standards 6 to 10 from the poor and backward sections of the society, and improved quality of education in subjects such as mathematics, science and English.
The well-trained team at IEL, along with the able support of CAAD, implemented a pre-programme strategy for smooth sailing of the programme, which included identification of potential schools in the tribal belt, followed by staff induction and orientation training. The selected teachers then underwent orientation programme for better understanding of the programme before heading for the preliminary meeting with the stakeholders.
Speaking on the initiative, Vijayant Ranjan, CEO, IEL, and chief, Kalinganagar said, “Tata Power is committed towards improvement of its communities in every aspect of their life. We engage with them for their holistic development with special emphasis on the education for the future generation. The Education Excellence Programme is one such initiative that aims at providing the necessary platform for the needy students to build a bright future. We will strive even further to maximise the reach of the programme to the students.”
The team ran a literacy campaign to raise awareness on importance of education in the tribal-dominated districts. Relevant study materials are also supplied in local languages for better engagement along with appointment of local teachers and female teachers. While running the programme, the students are regularly monitored through examinations and review processes. The students are supported with necessary guidance accordingly.
The programme is expected to serve the requirement of the students at the tribal belt and is aimed at improving their basic knowledge in the prescribed subjects. The programme is also aimed at raising awareness in education and for further studies among the students from the nearby communities.
