Tata Power Delhi Distribution wins Safety Innovation Award 2017
New Delhi: Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has won the Safety Innovation Award 2017 instituted by The Institution of Engineers (India), under the aegis of Safety & Quality Forum. The award was presented to team Tata Power-DDL by Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of NCT Delhi at the Safety Convention 2017 in Delhi.

The awards are given for exemplary commitment and innovation in Safety Management Systems in Organisations. The award recognises Tata Power-DDL's exemplary initiatives and innovation on safety as well as the results obtained on implementation of the initiatives for various stakeholders. As a responsible organisation, Tata Power-DDL adheres to the highest safety standards and undertakes various safety checks and conducts awareness programmes for its workforce safety. Regular safety audits are being conducted for its establishments along with emergency mock drills for creating safety awareness among the workforce.
Tata Power-DDL has implemented several safety innovations such as identification of unsafe pole process to classify high-risk poles and initiatives taken to reduce the risk and number of complaints from such poles as well as its linkage with CRM application for utilisation in all functions, online safety training modules for engineers and business associate employees. Competency assessment and their classification for working on high- to low-risk activities, application for reporting of safety issues and its monitoring till logical conclusion, automated procedure for generation, circulation and monitoring of CAPA (corrective action, preventive action), compliance at field, deployment of virtual safety organisation, drive for earth leakage testing in electrical equipment installed at public places such as parks, road, ATMs, etc., conducted over 100 street plays for enhancing safety awareness in the community.
