Tata Power Delhi Distribution becomes first distribution utility in the country to get MNRE 'SP 1A' rating for second time in a row to undertake solar power projects

The rating affirms Tata Power-DDL’s highest performance capability and highest financial strength to undertake solar projects

New Delhi: Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) becomes the first utility in the country to receive Solar Power 1A (SP 1A) highest rating from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The acknowledgement has been credited to Tata Power-DDL as highest honour rating of SP 1A (pronounced as Solar Power One A) as a System Integration Grading for Solar PV projects. The highest grading denotes Highest Performance Capability and Highest Financial Strength of Tata Power-DDL to undertake system integration for solar PV projects.

Tata Power-DDL is the only distribution company to be empanelled as a channel partner in this category among a total of 2,770 agencies empanelled as channel partners, including Renewable Energy Services Company category. Only 39 top organisations (1.4 percent) have been empanelled as SP 1A rated channel partner.

While assigning the rating, MNRE considered Tata Power-DDL’s financial flexibility and strengths arising from its status as a 51% subsidiary of Tata Power Company, its experienced team of technocrats and investment / finance professionals, positive feedback from the customers and suppliers. The Ministry also took into account the company’s execution capability by successfully commissioning 1.77 MW of solar power plants in its own premises, system integration for more than 200 solar projects among its customers with capacity more than 13 MWp and solar project management initiatives in other states such as Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Tata Power-DDL provides single window services through its empanelled agencies, starting with initial site survey, designing, installation, feasibility and commissioning of solar plant at consumer doorstep in accordance to the stipulated norms. Its consumer care centres and call centres can be further contacted for the same.

Earlier this year, Tata Power-DDL was recognised by ICRA for Highest Performance Capability and Highest Financial Strength to implement solar projects.

Speaking on the development, Praveer Sinha, chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Power-DDL said, “We have been an active participant for the promotion of solar energy in the country.
