Mumbai: Titan, India’s leading watch brand, launched HTSE (high-tech self-energised), a collection of futuristic self-energising, light-powered watches. Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal along with Ajoy Chawla, vice president, Titan Industries, unveiled the collection. HTSE brings alive the concept of a watch being a completely self-sufficient unit, to the point of energising itself. HTSE watches can be charged by any light upward of 200 lux. It is astonishing but true that even candlelight can charge it.
It is not only the technology of HTSE that has a 'light powered' angle to it but also the design inspiration which is unique. HTSE draws its design inspiration from the most complex self-energising bodies built by mankind — space stations, satellites and spaceships. Targeted at the tech-savvy, young urban male, this ultra-modern assortment is truly an epitome of style and technology.
Unveiling the collection, Mr Chawla said,“Today’s youth are 'techno savvy' and 'self energised'. The HTSE collection is a cool and flauntable accessory for this young guy. This light powered platform is an exciting development in the journey of brand Titan."
Speaking at the launch, BV Nagaraj, head, innovation and design, Titan, said that the technology was developed in-house by Titan. He also threw light on some of the technological features of this collection such as "sleep mode" which increases the shelf life of the battery, "end of life" which indicates that the battery needs a recharge, “overcharge prevention” — prevents overcharging of the battery — and “TSWF” — time set warning function.
Internationally renowned shuttler Saina Nehwal exclaimed, “It is truly exciting that an Indian watch brand has indigenously developed a technology of world-class standards. With its geometric-case contours, anthracite colours and saucer-shaped perforated dials, the HTSE collection distinguishes itself at the retail outlets. Priced in the range of Rs6,495 – Rs10,995, this collection has 10 styles and is currently launched only in the top 12 cities of India. In these cities they are available at all World of Titan showrooms, select leading multi-brand outlets and departmental stores across the country.
