Jamipol (formerly known as Jamshedpur Injection Powder), a joint venture company promoted by Tata Steel, SKW Stahl Metallurgie AG (Germany) and Tai Industries (Bhutan), is involved in the production and marketing of de-sulphurising compounds (DC) used by the steel industry for external desulphurisation of hot metal.

Jamipol provides complete desulphurisation solutions to the steel industry. The company manufactures consumables and has now started construction of desulphurisation (DS) stations for mini blast furnace units. The company also provides consultancy for selection of equipment, refurbishing of DS stations and optimisation of DS operations.

Jamipol has two plants, one at Jamshedpur, in operation since April 1998, and another at Toranagallu in district Bellary, Karnataka, operational since February 2006. Both plants have an installed capacity of 15,000 tpa, increasable to 40,000 tpa by addition of certain balancing facilities. The two plants allow Jamipol to meet customers' demands throughout the country.

Areas of business
Jamipol manufactures carbide-based DCs (CADs) and supplies carbide and magnesium-based DCs (MAGs), customised to specific customer requirements. It caters to the entire domestic requirement of CADs, including supplies to Tata Steel, SAIL and JSW Steel. Jamipol also provides application know-how and support services to its customers with assistance from its technical collaborators.

Jamipol, in conjunction with its construction partner, undertakes turnkey jobs for construction of mono injection DS units suitable for mini blast furnaces. The company aims to be the first Indian organisation to construct large DS stations for integrated steel plants.
