hotels at Bangalore sweep National Tourism awards

Taj West End awarded best eco- friendly
hotel; Taj Residency best 5-star hotel; Gateway hotel
on Residency Road best 4-star hotel
Three Taj hotels at Bangalore have each won the most
coveted awards in the travel and tourism industry in
India, awarded in various categories by the National
Tourism Ministry at a glittering ceremony held in Delhi.
External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee gave away
the awards and minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika
Soni presided over the function.
The awards are:
Best eco-friendly hotel award
The Taj West End
The Taj West End was awarded the best eco-friendly hotel
by the department of tourism for its commitment towards
being environmentally responsible. The award proves
the success of the vision at the Taj West End to integrate
environment management in all its business areas. The
title of Best Eco-Friendly hotel is awarded to the hotel
that is the most consistent in maintaining and implementing
the best environment practices in the hotel and is presented
on the basis of energy and water conservation, waste
management, and control methods for air, water and light
as well as sewer treatment.
Best 5-star hotel award
Taj Residency
Taj Residency was awarded the best hotel in the five-star
category, being the highest foreign exchange earner
in the country with the maximum number of tourist arrivals.
Its classy interiors and contemporary styling, superior
business connectivity and overall convenience provide
exceptional value to business travellers.
Best 4-star hotel award
Gateway Hotel on Residency
Road
Gateway hotel on Residency Road was awarded the best
hotel in the four star category. The hotel offers remarkable
value in its cuisine, service, rooms and facilities
in an experience of traditional warm hospitality.
The national tourism award is given out to various
hotels based on their management, operations and hospitality
skills. The awards serve to acknowledge exceptional
performance and contribution to promoting India as a
tourist destination and reinforce the commitment standards
