In the T + L’s 2005 World's Best Awards survey, discerning readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, who have travelled for business to top hotels across the globe, were surveyed on how well these hotels cater to business travellers. Here, the highest-ranking properties in major cities around the globe (with a minimum score of 75.00 necessary to be listed) scored. The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Mumbai and the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi were the only hotels in India to be selected for these coveted awards. Rankings were adjudged on set parameters like rooms, facilities, location, service, restaurants, food and value.

In its 24th year of publication, Business Traveller Asia-Pacific is one of eight regional editions of the magazine. Its sister publications are distributed in the UK, US, China, Germany, Middle East, Hungary and Spain. 8,828 poll forms were sent out to those select magazine subscribers who travel frequently, mostly around the Asia-Pacific. The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Mumbai and Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi were then judged on various set parameters, basis a compilation of the responses from the discerning readers.
