Taj
Exotica Goa launches wireless broadband solution
December 3, 2003
In keeping with
its commitment to provide its guests with the very best
facilities and comforts, the Taj Exotica Goa has launched
a revolutionary new broadband solution using wireless
fidelity (WiFi). The facility, still in phase I, offers
guests high- speed access to the Internet
from their laptops in any part of the hotel. Be it at
the lobby, the beach, restaurants, banquet halls, the
pool or the room, this new system allows guests the
convenience of moving from one place to another in the
hotel without losing access to the Internet.
Usage is simple — the hotel will provide network cards
for laptops. These will allow users to instantly connect
to the Internet. For users who have Wi-Fi-ready laptops
/ notebooks, all they have to do is ask the hotel front
desk for an account to access the services. The user
can then choose accounts with 1-hour access, 2-hour
access or 24-hour access, with the option of upgrading
the account online, from one scheme to the next higher
scheme at attractive rates at a maximum of Rs 600 for
24-hours access.
The wireless system installed in the hotels is based
on internationally accepted 802.11 standards and supports
up to 11 Mbps of data transfer. The systems used at
Taj Exotica are from Cisco Systems and Tata Indicom
is the hotel's business partner.
In its phase II plans, the hotel is planning to introduce
facilities like printing on wireless, folio inquiry
and messages. With printing on wireless, guests will
be able to send print commands from their laptop directly
to the printer in the business centre. The folio inquiry
will enable guests to review their hotel bills online.
Similarly, the messages facility will allow hotel staff
to send important messages which will be accessible
to hotel guests from their laptops.
