From
the first electric elevator to the first air-conditioned
restaurant, from the Indian freedom struggle to
the two World Wars, from the flower power generation
to the Internet boom, each decade at The Taj Mahal
Hotel has been a riveting chapter in history.
And the bygone eras were relived by the screening
of Zafar Hai’s 'The Taj of Apollo Bunder’ at the
Jamshed Bhabha Theatre. It was a journey back
in time, through a hundred years, a formal affair
with cocktails and dinner and a performance by
Ustad Nishat Khan. Roshan Seth who plays the walls
of the Taj has done an excellent job taking one
on a journey back in time and raising a toast
to the century yet to come. At the party one spotted
Ratan Tata, RK Krishnakumar and Raymond Bickson
besides other bigwigs of the Taj. There were Arvind
Singh Mewar, the Maharana of Udaipur, Simone Tata,
Zeenat Aman, Soni Razdan… the list goes on.
